Updated:

Laurentians | River rising | Stained water | 14 °C at dawn | Overcast

Summary

Water up after rain • Brook trout active in the morning.

Wild brook trout with red spots and an orange belly held above a creek

Overnight rain pushed the level up about ten centimetres. The trout were parked along the edge of the main current seam, exactly where the food was arriving.

Best window between 6:00 and 9:30 a.m. Small inline spinners and a bottom-drifted presentation produced steadily. Several brook trout in the 7 to 9 inch range and two nice fish around 11 inches, released.
