About — Frédéric Mayeu
A guide who really fishes these rivers
I'm Frédéric Mayeu, a trout fishing guide in the Laurentians and Lanaudière, about 1 h 30 from Montreal.
I've been fishing the small rivers and streams of these regions for years, often several times a week in season. That's what makes the difference: I don't guess what the water is doing, I know because I was there.
My specialty is trout — native brook trout, wary brown trout, deep lake trout — and landlocked salmon, the freshwater salmon that gives the most memorable fights in the region.
I guide people who have never held a rod as much as experienced anglers trying to understand why one pool produces and the next one doesn't. No judgement, no lecture: we fish, and I explain while we fish. Trips are guided in English or French.
What I promise: scouted sectors, realistic expectations, respect for the resource, and a day you'll be talking about for a long time.
